  7. @t5@f00   Over the past few years the general
  8. pattern  of  the  use of illegal drugs
  9. has changed some what and the opinions
  10. portrayed   by   the   media  and  the
  11. government towards this has changed as
  12. well,  instead  of  concentrating on a
  13. demand  reduction  anti drugs campaign
  14. as  in  the  doom laden schemes of the
  15. 1980's  it  has come apparent that how
  16. ever much you tell people to "just say
  17. no"  there  are going to be people who
  18. take  it upon themselves to ignore the
  19. advice  given  to  them and take drugs
  20. any  way  and so because of this a new
  21. "risk  reduction"  policy has been put
  22. into  affect  in  the  United  Kingdom

  28. @t5which  recognises this, and so aims to
  29. reduce  the  risk  to  drug  users  by
  30. informing them of the do's and don'ts.
  31. The  debate  between  what  policy  an
  32. authority  should take is complex, you
  33. could  look at it like this, do you A)
  34. Adopt  a  demand  reduction stance and
  35. have  a few people die of drugs, or B)
  36. Adopt  a  risk  reduction campaign and
  37. have more people taking drugs but less
  38. people   dying   because  of  them,  a
  39. difficult  political  issue  I'm  sure
  40. you'll  agree  and  this  is why it is
  41. some  times  hard  to  find  out  what
  42. ideals and polices a certain political
  43. party has towards the issue of drugs.
  44.    How  is  a  drug  defined  and what

  47. @t5makes  a  drugs  legal  or  illegal ??
  48. Well  a  drug  is usually classed as a
  49. substance  (natural or synthetic) that
  50. is  used to dull pain or give pleasant
  51. sensations  to  the  body or mind, and
  52. this   is  usually  how  a  government
  53. splits up drugs into legal and illegal
  54. ones i.e ones that are used to make an
  55. ill  person better are O.K, where as a
  56. drug  that  makes a better person feel
  57. even  better  are  not acceptable, but
  58. sometimes  this  is  not the case, for
  59. example in Amsterdam, Holland cannabis
  60. is legal and can be purchased from one
  61. of  a  number of Coffee shops where it
  62. can  be  smoked as well, all perfectly
  63. legally,  how  ever this does not mean
  64. there  are  no government restrictions
  65. on  cannabis use and distribution (for
  66. example  there is a legal limit of how
  67. much  a  person  can  carry  and it is
  68. @^
  69. @t5still a crime to sell it on.  How ever
  70. some    people    argue    that    the
  71. legalisation    of    cannabis    will
  72. encourage  the  use of other drugs, as
  73. they  would  also  become more readily
  74. available  but  on the other hand some
  75. groups  of  people  believe  that  all
  76. drugs  should  be legalised as it is a
  77. persons right to do to themselves what
  78. they like as it does not directly harm
  79. any  one  else  and  it is not for the
  80. government  to decide what you can and
  81. can't  do  with yourself.  Here in the
  82. United Kingdom illegal drugs are split
  83. into  2  seperate  catogaries, class A
  84. drugs  and  class B drugs, the class A
  85. drugs are in the governments view more
  86. dangerous   and   have   harder  legal
  87. penalties    to    reflect    this.The
  88. following chart show how the drugs are
  89. split up into the two categories:-

  95.  Magic Mushrooms - dried or prepared
  96.  M.D.M.A (E,X,exctacy)
  97.  Cannabis oil
  98.  Amphetmines - prepared for injection
  99.  Cocaine
  100.  Herorin
  101.  P.C.P (angel dust)
  102.  + all other dervities of these drugs 
  103.  (eg. crack)

  107. @t2 Amphetimines (speed,whizz)
  108.                 
  109.  Cannabis - herbal or resin (Hash,dope
  110.                          blow,pot,etc)

  113. @t5  I  don't  think  any  drugs  article
  114. would be complete, with out mentioning
  115. the new drugs craze, Exctacy.  This is
  116. with  out  doubt  the drug of the 90's
  117. being especially populour in the dance
  118. scene  where  a  single exctacy tablet
  119. can  help  a  "raver" carry on dancing
  120. all   night  usually  at  a  specially
  121. organised  rave where 1000's of people
  122. rave   the  night  away.   Testing  on
  123. exctacy and its harm on the human body
  124. is  still  under  progress with little
  125. conclusive  proof  so far but there is
  126. some   proof  that  continual  use  of
  127. M.D.M.A  (the  ingrediant of exctatcy)
  128. in  rabbits  causes  brain  damage and
  129. reports  of  people  losing the use of
  130. their  legs just add to the confusion,
  131. but  what  ever,  every week 1000's of
  132. people will ignore the advice given to
  133. them   by  the  government  and  other
  134. @#

  136. @t5authorities  and take some drugs be it
  137. smoking   a   joint,  or  dropping  an
  138. exctacy  tablet,  is  there  a problem
